Canstruction® Competition

Structures made entirely from canned goods.  A unique team building activity for your company that benefits the community.

A total of 17,017 pounds of food was donated to the Food Bank of WNY from the 2018 Canstruction® competition.

An additional $705.73 was raised from the people's choice votes!




Companies who want to put their skills to the test in building, creating and team building in an effort to help the Food Bank of WNY

Teams will build displays from 5-9pm on December 7, 8, & 9.
The Public will be able to vote for their favorite Canstruction® display from December 7-23 (during Festival hours).
Judging by a selected panel will take place on December 10 or 11.
Decanstruction will take place on December 27.

Event Center at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

2018 Canstruction® Winners

Teams had a total of 12 hours to build displays. Category winners included:

People’s Choice – Wendel with their Bring Home the Celery! with 21,697 votes

Most Cans Donated – Ferguson Electric with their Buffalo Skyline

Structural Ingenuity – Wendel with their Bring Home the Celery!

Best Meal – Wendel with their Bring Home the Celery!

Best Use of Labels – Hamburg Gaming with their Christmas Trees

Best Original Design – Wendel with their Bring Home the Celery!

With the food used to build these structures, there was a total of 14,113 cans, 250 boxes and 62 bags of ride.

Judges included Robert Brunner, Erie County Agricultural Society; Paula Mercurio, CFO Food Bank of Western New York; Martha Buyer, Member of Food Bank of Western New York, Advisory Council; Brian Burd, Buffalo Bills, Director of Training Center Operations; Ron Plant, WGRZ.

Canstruction, Inc is a nonprofit organization that holds annual design and build competitions to benefit local food banks.

Founded in 1992, the competitions are responsible for collection over 20 million pounds of food for the communities where Canstruction operates.
